Complete MedXpress before your appointment and bring the information your AME will need to review.
Fill out your FAA application before the appointment, including medical history information from throughout your life.
Write down or print your MedXpress confirmation number. You will need it at your AME appointment.
Bring valid photo ID, glasses or contacts if used, and any FAA-requested medical documentation.
Your application is reviewed with you at the appointment before it is submitted to the FAA.
Additional fees may apply depending on your medical circumstances and testing needs.
Class II & Class III Medical Exams
Applicants covered by the FAA's post-01/01/2025 testing requirement may need online color vision testing. A $50 fee applies.
After your appointment, a certificate is issued if requirements are met. Some applications may be deferred to the FAA for follow-up.
If the AME requests additional records before issuing your certificate, the document says you have one week to retrieve and submit the requested information. After that, the application must be submitted to the FAA for its judgment and timeline.
